DAY 1: Purpose Begins With Identity

Before God gave humanity an assignment, He gave them an identity. Genesis tells us that God created man and woman in His image. Only after that did He bless them and speak purpose over their lives—to be fruitful, multiply, steward creation, and lead responsibly.

Identity came first. Purpose followed.

This order matters, especially in today’s world. Many people are pressured to define themselves by what they do, how much they earn, or how successful they appear. When purpose comes before identity, life becomes heavy. People work harder but feel emptier.

God’s design was different. Fruitfulness flowed from the relationship. Authority flowed from alignment. Family, responsibility, and legacy were central—not optional.

Psalm 139 reminds us that God knew us before we achieved anything. Your value was established before your effort began. Purpose was never meant to prove your worth. It was meant to express it.

When identity is secure, obedience becomes natural. You stop striving to be someone and start living as who God created you to be.

Purpose is not something you chase. It is something that unfolds as you walk with God.

God, restore the right order in my life. Help me live from identity, not pressure. Amen.
