Parental Responsibilities

DAY 3 OF 5

Lead Them to Jesus

One of the most essential responsibilities of a parent is to lead their children to Christ. The woman in Matthew 15:21–28 understood this deeply. Her daughter needed help, and she brought her to Jesus—not to a tradition, not to a community, but to the only One who could save, heal, and restore.

Parents can't save their children, but they can guide them to the One who can. Many parents assume that because their children attend church or grow up in Christian homes, they automatically understand Jesus. But salvation is personal. Every child must come to Christ individually.

Leading children to Jesus involves four simple yet powerful commitments:

1. Model Christ-like behaviour
Children should see Christ in your patience, decisions, speech, and daily life.

2. Teach them about Jesus
Share Bible stories, read Scripture together, and explain God’s love in simple language.

3. Talk to them personally about salvation.
Ask questions, answer their concerns, and help them understand what it means to follow Christ.

4. Bring them to Jesus through prayer and community.
Pray for them, pray with them, and expose them to environments where God is honoured.

The greatest inheritance you can give your children is not wealth, education, or comfort; it's a relationship with Jesus. Clothes wear out, schools change, and seasons shift, but salvation shapes eternity.

When you lead your children to Jesus, you give them the greatest gift a parent can offer: a foundation that can't be shaken.

Reflection Questions

  1. Are you intentionally leading the children in your life toward Jesus or assuming they will find Him on their own?
  2. What is one practical step you can take this week to point them toward Christ?

About this Plan

Parental Responsibilities

Raising godly children is one of the highest responsibilities God gives to parents. Children are gifts from Him, but He also calls us to nurture, train, and guide them with intentionality. This plan explores how to build a Christ-centred home, model a godly lifestyle, lead children to Jesus, and train them with love and discipline. Whether you are already a parent, waiting on God for children, or influencing young people in any capacity, these five days will strengthen your vision and equip you with biblical wisdom.
