Prayer & Fasting

DAY 3 OF 7

How different would our minds, bodies, and lives look if we truly beheld and lived in the full promises of God? So often, we can settle for less than what God originally intended or gave us. We walk through life carrying burdens, sicknesses, doubts, shame, and sin, even though Jesus has already made a way for us to live in wholeness and through complete renewal of our minds, bodies, and lives.

Renewal of the mind, body, and circumstances isn't just something that we read about in scripture. Rather, it is something we all have access to today. The same Holy Spirit who moved in the pages of the Bible is alive, present, and at work among us now. God has not changed, and His power has not diminished. So often, we read stories of healing, restoration, and redemption as if they belong to another time or another people. Yet we are reminded in 2 Corinthians 1:20 that no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. Every promise of renewal is still available to us today because of Jesus.

As believers, when we are unsure how to live or what to do next, we must always look to Jesus. When we open the Gospels, we encounter a Savior who heals the sick, restores the brokenhearted, and brings life back to the dead. Jesus did not simply teach about the Kingdom of God; He demonstrated it. He lived out the very truths that He preached. As a people, we must also live out the Gospel and behold the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. Remembering that His power has the ability to bring renewal not only to our spirits, but also to our bodies, minds, and circumstances.

Jesus tells us in John 14:12, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” This promise is not distant or unattainable. It is an invitation to walk daily in faith and dependence on the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus did. If we are truly called to do even greater works than Jesus did on earth, then renewal was never meant to stop with Him. It was meant to continue through us.

To receive this renewal, we must have faith and make room for God to move. Prayer and fasting help create space in our hearts and realign our focus and dependence on Him. When we choose to seek God wholeheartedly and intentionally, we position ourselves to receive all that He desires to renew within us. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus teaches us to pray, and part of that prayer, He says, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Heaven is a place of wholeness, and through Christ, we are invited to experience glimpses of that reality here and now. God desires to bring His heavenly renewal into our earthly lives. We must release the thought that something in us is too broken, too small, or too far gone for God to touch. Jesus did not come only to save us for eternity; He came to restore us now. May we choose to behold Jesus, trust His promises, and believe that the same God who moved then is ready to move now and that He will do it again in us.
