Kong Hee: Your Life's Purpose

DAY 4 OF 5

Are You Becoming More Like Christ?

Have you ever worked with a piece of clay? Turning a tiny wet glob of clay into something beautiful is a difficult task. As the clay spins around on the wheel, it needs the right amount of water and the right amount of pressure in order to be shaped into what it is meant to be.

As a Christian, you are a lot like a piece of clay, only you are being shaped into the likeness of Christ. When you first became a Christian, you were like unshaped clay. Maybe you were mentored in a Bible study. This was your clay being given the necessary water to be shaped. Maybe you served on a mission trip where you saw a lot of pain and poverty, and your beliefs were challenged. This was your clay being stretched on the Potter’s wheel. Maybe an older Christian encouraged you to use your gifts to serve in some way at your church. This was your clay being given direction and shape. This entire process is known as “discipleship.”

Discipleship is an incredible journey that takes place throughout your life. Every day spent studying God’s Word, kneeling in prayer, ministering to others and simply committing yourself to live with other Christians who are eager to help you grow into the likeness of Christ is an important day in the process of discipleship.

Prayer for the day:

Today, ask God to lead you in the process of discipleship. Pray that He will place other Christians in your life who can teach and mentor you to be more like Christ.
