The Eternity of Wisdom
For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord. Proverbs 8:35
Proverbs 8 presents two central themes: the excellence and the eternity of wisdom. For me, the most striking part of this chapter begins in verse 22, as it reveals that Wisdom existed even before creation. She was with the Creator, participating in His work and rejoicing in all that He formed.
So, the question arises: if Wisdom is eternal and was with God, who is this wisdom?
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing that was made was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men." John 1:1–4
Yes! Jesus is the very Wisdom of God. And to have wisdom is to have the mind of Christ — to think as He thinks, to see as He sees, to act and react as He would.
Whoever truly receives Him, seeks Him tirelessly, and earnestly desires to develop His character finds true wisdom.
