Picture this: A young man rises every morning to work his field to provide for his family. He sees his crops grow, and his mind wanders. “How does this happen every year?” he wonders. He thinks about what, or who, causes his crops to grow. These are his lone thoughts. What if someone could tell him about the God who not only causes his crops to grow, but loved him so much that He sent His Son to die for him and provide salvation for him. Wouldn’t that be fantastic?

However, no one can tell him about that God because there is no one who lives nearby and knows his language and culture who could tell him about this God. There is no one in his culture, city, or region who can share this with him.

Paul says, in Romans 10:13, “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” You may ask, “Why can’t they just call on the name of the Lord?” That is a great question.

Paul goes further and asks, “How will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him in whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?” (Romans 10:14-15)

That’s why they do not call on the name of the Lord. They have never heard the name of the Lord. They can’t hear the name of the Lord because there is no one to tell them.

How will they hear? Paul says, “And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” We MUST go!

Prayer:

Lord, the idea of people not being able to hear about You overwhelms me. I am available to be used by You, however, whenever, and wherever You choose. Amen.

• Who will take the gospel to this young man, or others just like him, around the world?
• Do you know anyone who needs to catch a vision for reaching the unreached with whom you could share your trip experience when you return home?
