One Trip Changes EverythingSample

The Plan
Have you ever noticed how plans you have can get away from you? You begin planning a surprise party for a friend. At first, the plan is to have a quiet gathering with a few friends. Before you know it, 50 people are coming, and decorations, cake, and music have all been arranged. The plan for a small, intimate gathering has grown into a full- blown party. Or, the opposite happens. People back out, emergencies happen, and the plan crumbles altogether.
We have talked about the problem (lack of gospel access) and the people (the lost). Now, in Genesis 12:1-3, we see God’s plan to use Abram (whom God later names Abraham in Genesis 17) as a blessing for all nations. God says, “And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing. ...and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” In Genesis 17, God makes a covenant with Abraham to make him the father of many nations.
Unlike the plans humans develop, God’s plan to make Abraham both the father of many nations and a blessing that will bless all people is a perfect plan. One that only a trustworthy God could promise and fulfill.
God’s plan to include you in this blessing was promised in Genesis. His plan to include those who are unreached with the gospel is still being realized today. When a new church is established and the gospel is proclaimed among those who have yet to hear, we celebrate our God who is faithful to fulfill every promise He makes.
Prayer:
God, use Your Church to be a blessing to the world. May you be known and glorified through all nations. May the gospel be known where it has not yet been proclaimed.
Reflective Questions:
- How can you show God your gratitude for being included in His plan?
- What is one way you can be a blessing to others?
