Kong Hee: Abba - The Father Of Love

DAY 4 OF 5

Receiving Your Worth

People often think that they determine their own worth. Some people determine their worth by how much money they make. Others determine their worth by how they look. Sometimes people determine their worth by how smart they are or where they attended school. There are many other ways in which people try to make themselves feel important and show that they matter, but all such efforts have one thing in common: They look to the individual for self-worth.

Oddly enough, believing that you determine your own worth actually has the effect of making you more insecure! It is exhausting to spend every moment of your day trying to prove to yourself and to others that you are worthwhile. Spiritually, this leads to a relationship with God in which you are always trying to earn His love.

But God does not need anything from you. There is nothing that you could ever do that would merit His love. In other words, you are not in control of how much you‘re worth in God’s eyes. Isaiah 43:4 says, “Since you were precious in My sight, you have been honored, and I have loved you.” You are not special to God because of your actions, but because of His great love for you! You could never earn His love, because He has chosen to give it to you freely!

People spend so much time and energy trying to earn their worth, grasping at it like it was something they can capture. But God wants you to receive your worth from Him. He is the only one who knows you through and through, and He is the only one who can give you your worth. You matter, because you matter to God!

Prayer for the day:

Today, thank God for His great love for you. Pray that you will be set free from the trap of trying to earn His love, and remember that you are worthwhile because He loves you.
