The Way: Discipleship

DAY 2 OF 30

From Rosita Faatau

Never Alone

GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is in life? Ever had a feeling something was missing? Have you accomplished many things and still felt like: what's next? Have you ever looked up to the sky in wonder at what's out there?

I know someone, a woman, who felt this way. She grew up with many siblings and family members, found love, got married and had kids, but she still wondered what the purpose of her life was.

One day, she called out to God and said, "Lord, if you are truly out there and you see me and you hear me, I ask you to use me. And if you do, I will give you all of me, and I will never say no to you."

God heard her prayer, and she experienced love and a sense of purpose that changed her life.

In the Bible, in Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT), Jesus tells his followers about their purpose. He says,

"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Jesus instructs them – and all of us – to go out and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them about the Good News.

If you are like this girl – if you are searching for purpose and meaning – I encourage you to call out to God. To get to know him. You will find that you have a mighty purpose in him.

This Scripture tells us that God has a mighty purpose for us and that he will be with us always, even to the end of the age. We will never be alone. He has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us so that we will truly never be alone. That at the end of time, he is still with us.

If you are reading this because you are searching for something, for a purpose, know that the Spirit of the Lord is with you. Know that God is waiting to hear your voice. Know that you can find purpose in him.

All you must do is surrender to Jesus: believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross and that he rose again and that he lives today for you and me.

The girl I was telling you about is me. I can testify to the goodness of God. I was going about life alone, but found Jesus and never felt alone again. I pray this will be your story too, that you will encounter Jesus Christ and feel the warmth of His Holy Spirit in your life forever.

Reflection

  • What would it look like for you to have a conversation with God today? How can you take that first step?
  • As you go through your week, how can you remind yourself that God is with you always?
  • How can you 'make disciples of all nations' this week?

Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to see you. Help me to know that I am never alone. I come to you with questions about myself, about who you want me to be. Please show me my true purpose and show me how I can share the goodness of who you are with others. Help me to know that I am never alone — that I will never be alone, even at the end of the age. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.

About this Plan

The Way: Discipleship

Discipleship is a grace-empowered, lifelong journey of following Jesus and being formed into his likeness in heart, mind, and action. It involves intentional practices that nurture personal holiness, missional living, and love for others. Rooted in community, disciples grow through shared wisdom, encouragement, and example. Discipleship is not just about learning but about living out the way of Jesus in everyday life.
