A Place to Grow

Scripture:
Proverbs 27:17 (AMP): “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens and influences another through discussion.”

Reflection:
Growth rarely happens by accident, and it almost never happens alone. God designed maturity to be relational, because friction produces clarity and conversation produces courage. We can sit in inspiring services and still remain unchanged, but small groups create space where truth is practiced, not merely admired. Chris Hodges often says that we grow better together, and Scripture shows that sharpening requires proximity, patience, and honest words. Iron does not sharpen iron by avoiding contact, and believers do not mature by avoiding challenge. We learn to listen before we speak, and to speak with grace when it matters most. Stagnation ambushes purpose by settling for comfort instead of calling. Small groups keep purpose visible by inviting discussion, correction, and celebration. When someone sees potential in you, growth feels possible; when someone walks with you, obedience feels sustainable. Maturity is not measured by information alone, but by transformation that shows up in choices, habits, and relationships. You discover that progress is often slow, but it is never wasted. God uses ordinary conversations to produce lasting change, and He uses faithful people to keep us moving forward with humility and perseverance.

Application:
Decide to approach every encounter as a student with a learning posture. Ask one person for honest feedback and receive it without defending yourself. Practice one Scripture this week and share what you learn. Send one encouragement after each meeting to reinforce growth.

Prayer:
Lord, grow me through truth, community, and faithful practice. Shape my life to reflect Your wisdom and grace, Amen.
