DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4 — Nothing Is Wasted

One of the quiet fears many women in business carry is the feeling of being behind—behind schedule, behind expectations, behind where they thought they would be by now. When seasons stretch longer than expected, it becomes easy to label that time as “lost,” rather than recognizing what may still be forming beneath the surface.

However, Scripture tells us that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28, NIV). This does not mean that every season is easy or desirable, but it does mean that no season is wasted. God works within us through every season we walk through, using even what feels slow or unseen to build something that, in time, will bear fruit.

This is why time is not something to recover, but something to steward. When lived with intention, even a long or unseen season becomes a source of value.

This distinction matters deeply in the business world, because growth is rarely linear. Some seasons feel productive and visible, while others feel slow, hidden, or misaligned with our expectations. However, the kind of growth we truly aspire to see is often formed in more challenging seasons, where our skills are sharpened, judgment is refined, and capacity is expanded.

Joseph’s story illustrates this clearly. Long before he held authority, Joseph learned how to manage responsibility out of visibility. In Potiphar’s house, he developed operational excellence (Genesis 39:2-6). In prison, he developed leadership under pressure and discernment (Genesis 39:21-23). None of those seasons looked strategic at the time. Yet all of them were essential, as they positioned him for authority when the right time came (Genesis 41:38-41).

Joseph did not recover lost years—he capitalized on them by allowing each season to build the competence required for what came next.

This reframes how we view time. A season does not need to be productive on the surface to be valuable. When stewarded well, even a slow or unseen season is building assets—skills, discernment, and capacity—that will be required later.

What feels inefficient today may become essential tomorrow, and what feels delayed may be preparing you for responsibilities you are not ready to carry yet.

Prayer: Lord, help me see this season through Your perspective. Guard my heart from the fear of being behind. Teach me to steward my time, experiences, and responsibilities with wisdom, trusting that You are able to integrate every season into lasting value and purpose. Amen.
