Building Trust Through Communication

DAY 2 OF 4

Day 2: Are You Saying Too Much or Not Enough?

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by too much information or frustrated by not enough?

Communication is not just about speaking. It is about knowing what to say, when to say it, and how to say it. Too little communication creates confusion. Too much communication creates noise. Both lead to frustration.

In a world full of messages, notifications, and constant updates, it is easy to believe that more communication is better. But often, more words do not bring more clarity. They bring overload. When everything feels important, nothing stands out.

Effective communication requires simplicity. It requires discernment. It requires understanding what people actually need to hear in that moment.

Jesus modeled this beautifully. He did not overwhelm people with unnecessary words. He spoke with purpose. He spoke with clarity. And He spoke in ways people could understand.

Think about your own communication. Are you over-explaining because you want to be understood? Or under communicating because you assume people already know? Both can widen that gap of frustration we talked about.

Clarity is not about saying more. It is about saying what matters most.

But how do you know what truly matters in each moment? That question leads us deeper into not just what we say, but how we say it.

Reflection Question
Do you tend to over-communicate or under-communicate, and how might that be affecting the people around you?

Call to Action
Choose one conversation today and intentionally simplify your message. Focus on what truly needs to be said.

Prayer
God, give me wisdom in my communication. Help me know when to speak and when to be silent. Teach me to communicate clearly and simply. Let my words bring clarity, not confusion. Amen.
