Building Trust Through CommunicationSample

Day 3: What Are You Communicating Without Words?
Have you ever walked into a room and changed the atmosphere without saying a single word?
Communication is not just verbal. Your presence, your posture, and your facial expressions all speak before you ever open your mouth. People are constantly reading what you are communicating, even when you are silent.
You might think communication is about what you say, but often it is about how you show up. A smile can build connection. A distracted presence can create distance. Even your energy can either lift a room or weigh it down.
This matters because people do not just hear your words. They feel your presence.
Think about how Jesus interacted with people. He saw them. He noticed them. He was present. His communication was not rushed or distracted. It was intentional and personal.
Now consider your own life again. Have you ever been physically present but emotionally distant? Have you ever unintentionally communicated frustration or disinterest without meaning to?
Your communication is always speaking. The question is whether it is building trust or creating confusion.
If communication is more than words, then growing as a communicator means growing in awareness. It means choosing to be present, not just available.
So what would change if you became more intentional with what you communicate without saying anything at all?
Reflection Question
What might your nonverbal communication be saying to the people around you right now?
Call to Action
Today, be intentional about your presence. Make eye contact, smile, and give your full attention in one key interaction.
Prayer
God, help me become more aware of how I show up. Teach me to communicate through my presence, not just my words. Let my life reflect Your love and bring encouragement to others. Amen.
