Fresh Start Devotional

DAY 29 OF 31

GIVE THANKS FOR PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION

Anchor Scripture: Psalm 92:1
“It is good to give thanks to the Lord.”

Gratitude keeps growth healthy. When people wait for perfection before giving thanks, they miss the power of appreciation along the way. Scripture encourages thanksgiving not because everything is finished, but because God is faithful in process.

Paul modeled this posture clearly. Even while acknowledging his ongoing growth, he declared, “I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 7:25). Gratitude does not deny weakness; it honors grace at work.

Thanksgiving also protects the heart from discouragement. Hebrews 12:15 warns against allowing bitterness to take root. Gratitude uproots bitterness by focusing the heart on God’s goodness rather than unmet expectations.

When you thank God for progress—however small—you reinforce hope and strengthen motivation. Gratitude fuels perseverance.

Truths to Hold

  • Progress deserves recognition
