Created for JesusSample

Made in the Image of God
Human beings are made in the image of God.
This gives every person extraordinary dignity. Before any achievement, title, wealth, nationality, ability, status, age, or usefulness, every human life carries God-given worth. Men and women are created by God, blessed by God, and called to represent him in the world.
To be made in God’s image is not only a gift of identity, it is also a calling. Humanity is given responsibility within creation. We are called to fill the earth, rule over living creatures, and steward the world God has made.
But biblical rule is not domination. We learn what true rule looks like by looking at God himself, and ultimately by looking at Jesus. God’s rule brings life, order, fruitfulness, justice, and blessing. Jesus’ rule is humble, servant-hearted, and self-giving. If we bear God’s image, we are called to reflect his character.
This reshapes how we see ourselves and others.
We do not have permission to treat people as obstacles, tools, consumers, enemies, or statistics. Every person we meet is someone God made. Every vulnerable person, every unborn child, every elderly person, every person with disabilities, every refugee, every neighbor, every stranger, every person we struggle to love carries immense dignity before God.
It also reshapes how we see our work. Whether we teach, farm, preach, design, parent, lead, repair, cook, build, care, organize, create, or serve, we are invited to reflect God’s wise and loving rule in ordinary places.
Sin has distorted the image of God in us, but it has not destroyed it. In Christ, God is renewing his image in his people. He is forming us more fully into his original design by making us more like Jesus.
You were made to reflect God.
Prayer
God, thank you for creating humanity in your image. Help me see myself and others with the dignity you have given. Renew your image in me so that my life reflects your love, justice, and goodness. Amen.
Today’s Practice
Choose one person you may be tempted to overlook, dismiss, belittle, or use. Ask God to help you see them as someone made in his image and think about one way you can serve them this week.

About this Plan

Why did God create the world? Genesis tells us that God made the heavens and the earth, called creation good, and made human beings in his image. But the New Testament takes us even deeper—all things were created through Jesus and for Jesus. This 5-day plan invites us to reflect on the Creator God, the goodness of the physical world, the dignity and calling of humanity, the centrality of Jesus, and the hope of new creation. You were not created for yourself. The world was not created for itself. All things were created for Jesus.
