True GreatnessSample

Greatness Desired.
And he said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?” And they said to him, “Grant us to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your glory.” Mark 10:36-37 (ESV).
James and John desired positions of honor in God’s Kingdom. Their request revealed a desire many of us share—the desire for significance and influence.
Jesus gently reminded them that they did not fully understand what they were asking. Sometimes we pursue things that seem good, yet God sees a bigger picture than we do. His plans and purposes are always better than our own ambitions.
True greatness begins when we stop striving for position and start trusting God’s placement. Rather than seeking recognition, we can faithfully serve where God has called us, knowing His purpose for our lives is best.
Are there ambitions, positions, or desires that you need to surrender to God’s will and timing today?
Prayer: Father God, Thank you for knowing what is best for my life. Help me to trust your plans more than my own ambitions. Teach me to be faithful where you have placed me and to seek your will above my own. In Jesus name, Amen.

About this Plan

In a world that celebrates status, recognition and influence, Jesus offers a radically different definition of greatness. When his disciples argued about who was the greatest, Jesus taught them that true greatness is found not in position or power, but in humble service. Over three days, we will explore greatness desired, greatness defined, and greatness demonstrated.
