Standing Firm When Giants Shout
The enemy always talks loudly, and we have enemies in this world, men. Whether it's addiction whispering, "you'll never change," past mistakes shouting, "you're disqualified," or fear screaming, "you're not enough"—the giants in our lives want us to feel small and weak.
David faced a literal giant that day in the Valley of Elah. Goliath stood nine feet tall, wore 125 pounds of armor, and had been defying God and his people with blasphemous trash talk for forty days. Every Israelite soldier fled in terror. The odds were impossible.
But David understood something the others missed: this wasn't just a battle between flesh and blood. Goliath had defied the armies of the living God. And that changed everything.
Notice David didn't stay silent. He didn't just think positive thoughts or quietly process his fear. He spoke his faith louder than Goliath's threats. "You come with weapons, but I come in the name of the LORD." Before the stone ever left his sling, David declared God's victory.
Here's what we often forget: our faith needs a voice. When Jesus calmed the storm, He spoke: "Peace, be still." When Joshua faced Jericho's walls, the people shouted. Scripture shows us that victory often begins with the spoken word of faith.
What giant is shouting at you today? What enemy is trying to convince you that you're too small, too broken, or too far gone?
Men, you need to let your faith talk louder.
Speak truth over the lies. Declare God's promises over your circumstances. Remind yourself—out loud—that you are chosen, equipped, and backed by the God of the universe. You're not defined by your past, your addiction, or your failures. Your first identity is a child of God.

About this Plan

Men often engage in "trash talk" targeting ego, status, strength, and competence. Similarly, the Bible contains pointed, direct moments where Jesus and others confront ungodly character traits in men. This plan examines those uncomfortable yet necessary moments of correction, challenging us to shed the sins that hold us back and pursue Christ wholeheartedly in every area of life.
