Got Water - A Serving DevotionalSample

Struggling to Serve.
Have you ever noticed how difficult it is when we serve? Problems seem to come from everywhere. At times, the opportunity to serve can seemingly be overwhelming and we are just unable to handle it. When Jesus asked for the jars to be filled, filling them was a difficult task for one servant, moving the jars was impossible for one person alone. Each jar was made of stone, with a capacity of 20-30 gallons. Jesus asked for each one to be filled to the brim. One gallon of water is equal to 10lbs. Each stone jar was at least 200-300lbs. We were created to serve together and not alone. Jesus used a team as each of us has been given a set of talents that is uniquely ours. Alone we may be able to complete part of the task God has given us, but our struggles are less, our burden shared when we work together as a single body in Christ. Jesus knew the value of a team of individuals with different talents working as one.

About this Plan

There are a lot of excuses for not serving God. Looking at Christ’s first miracle (John 2:3-8), we can see how can we offer up all we have, water from our own wells, in service to Jesus, the results are exquisite wine.
