MEET ELIJAH

Elijah was a prophet (that’s someone chosen by God to tell people what God wants to say to them). Many people had turned away from God and were not doing what God wanted. Elijah’s job was to tell the people what God wanted them to do.

Elijah told King Ahab, “Because you are not following God, there will be no rain for a long time.”

Then God gave Elijah clear instructions. God looked after Elijah, even though there was no rain and not much food. He told Elijah where to go. See what God said in today’s first Bible reading.

Elijah found a little brook (a small river) and lived beside it.

The ravens brought him bread and meat every morning and every evening. He drank water from the brook.

But not for long! Look at today’s second Bible reading. The brook soon dried up as there was no rain.

Is God still looking after Elijah? What will happen next?
