Thrive. A 14-Day Devotional for SinglesSample

Freedom
They say one of the greatest gifts of being single is the gift of freedom. By “they” I mean Paul who was speaking for God through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit! But what exactly is this freedom Paul spoke so keenly about? Is it the freedom to do what I want to do when I want to do it? While that might be the case for most single people in the world, true freedom for the single Christian is so much more than that. True freedom is more than financial stability or a great education. It’s more than a passport with plenty of stamps in it. And it’s certainly more than the freedom to date around and maximize sexual experiences. True freedom is more than the color of your skin or the power of your position. True freedom, you see, is a person. His name is Jesus and He died to set you free. In Galatians 5:1 Paul describes this freedom we have in Christ, and in 1 Corinthians 7 he applies it specifically to singleness. Our advantage as single Christians is that we can use our freedom to give God our undivided attention and unencumbered wills. Our privilege as single Christians is that we can focus our freedom completely on the very one who set us free and that is the greatest freedom you and I will ever receive.
Questions:
What will you do with the freedom that was bought for you by the blood of Jesus? How will you spend your days serving the Lord with the freedom you’ve been given as a single Christian?

About this Plan

Despite what many people think, singleness is not a disease. It’s not the lesser option. Singleness is God’s gift to you today. In Thrive, Lina AbuJamra – who has been single for over 50 years – will show you how you can make a difference with your life right now instead of sitting around waiting for something to happen to you. If you’re ready to figure out what God has to say about singleness instead of relying on your own feelings and conclusions, this plan is for you.
