A Prayer for Laws and Policies
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” –Martin Luther King Jr.
Dear God,
By you, kings reign and rulers issue decrees that are just. (Prov. 8:15) Your Word says that by justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down. (Prov. 29:4) I pray that you would work through our leaders to bring about justice in our land. Give wisdom to our leaders. Your Word recounts how you came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to your people from heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good. (Neh. 9:13)
I ask now that you guide the abolitionists working towards changing laws in order to end the injustice of human trafficking. Lead them to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. (Prov. 31:8) In Jesus’ name, amen.
