A Prayer of Thanksgiving
Dear God,
I thank you for the power of the cross. Jesus, you understand oppression firsthand. You were despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hid their faces, you were despised and held with low esteem.
Thank you for taking up our pain and bearing our suffering. You were pierced for the transgressions of mankind, crushed for our iniquities, the punishment that brought us peace was on you, and by your stripes we are healed. (Isa. 53) I praise you for putting in place the ultimate plan of redemption, restoration and healing. In the end, you will wipe away every tear; there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. The old order of things will pass away and you will make everything new! (Rev. 21:4-5)
I thank you for your arm is not too short to save, nor is your ear too dull to hear. (Isa. 59:1) Though now for a little while we may suffer grief and all kinds of trials, I greatly rejoice for in your great mercy you have given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (1 Pet.1:3,6) You are Healer. You are Redeemer. You are Savior. Thank you for acting on behalf of the broken. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, amen
