Progress Of A Modern Pilgrim预览
I was speaking at a major conference in the Philippines. It had been a a spiritual battle to attend. Yet the entire time of preparation I had felt that God wanted me there just to give the message from Him to one of the Pastors attending: “Don’t Give Up!”.
I describe that moment in my book Progress of a Modern Pilgrim when I finally was able to unpack this word from God to someone in dire straits:
The weather was quite unsettled. The meeting area seated over 1,000 with a metal roof and open sides. It was full to capacity. My turn came to speak on the important subject of ‘Don’t Give Up!’. I felt the anointing of God so strongly as I stood up. Yet, as I began to share God’s Word, the most torrential downpour of heavy rain started to pelt the metal roof, causing unbearable noise and disruption. The louder I spoke, the heavier the rain became. Yet, I did not stop as I recognized it as the work of the enemy, and gave the powerful message. I had people close their eyes and I asked who it was that I had been sent to the Philippines to share this message with. One hand went up – my time and energy was well worth it! But then another hand, and another. At the end, I found that there were twelve people who had despaired of life and ministry and were considering ending their lives. Afterwards, one of the speakers told me privately that it was also a message for him, but he did not want to raise his hand – because he was a speaker! What joy filled my heart; the whole trip had been worthwhile.
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost! That’s you and that’s me!
You might not need to take a journey of thousands of miles to share the love and grace of Jesus with others but the trip to that neighbor of friend’s house might SEEM like a million miles. No one wants to live a life without purpose. As Christians we have the greatest purpose in history – to bring people to God!
