Overwhelmed by My Blessings: Encouragement for Moms (Part 10)预览
“Mommy, I need a ‘nack.” You hear it many times a day from your toddler. I had a toddler who, if he missed snacktime the day before, would ask for double the next day. Kids never forget what’s important to them. Or, from your growing teen who is always hungry, “Mom! There’s no food in this house!!” (meaning: there are no sugary, carb loaded snacks left, and when are you going to the store?).
Our kids could live on snacks alone if we allowed it. But, we don’t. We know that they need nourishment from regular, healthy meals.
We need the same thing in our spiritual lives: regular, healthy times of meeting with Jesus--the Bread of Life. We are spiritually healthy when we get those regular full meals.
But sometimes, just like our children, we need a snack too! A little spiritual nugget to get us through the day until our next “meal”. You can grab a snack from God’s Word! Find scriptures that build up your spirit and confidence—scriptures that feed your mind with Truth and give you courage to make it through the day. Write them on cards and place around your house to remind you, since we so quickly forget. Instead of grabbing for Facebook, grab a card! Read it aloud over yourself, over your children, over your home.
But, don’t let these be your meal. They won’t sustain you for long. Pray for a desire for regular full meals with Jesus. When you invite Him, He will meet you.
Until that next meal (tomorrow morning), try some of these scripture snacks today.
Father, You know how crazy and full my mind is sometimes. I’m choosing to place Your words literally before my face today where I can see them often. I want my mind to be filled with Your presence and goodness to remind me where to put my hope when all seems to be falling apart. I know You are for me, and I pray these bits of Your words will go deep into my spirit to sustain me until I meet with You again.
