Agnus Dei
Listen to “Agnus Dei” then read the following:
To be holy is to be pure and perfect. None of us are perfect. Our lives are not perfect. Our homes are not perfect. Our kids are not perfect. But Jesus is.
When we sing hallelujah, we’re simply saying, “Praise the Lord.” Jesus deserves our praise because He is perfect. He deserves our praise for sacrificing Himself to pay for our sins. Before Jesus died, God’s people sacrificed lambs to pay for their sins. The animals had done nothing wrong; they were simply a scapegoat. Like a lamb, Jesus took the penalty for our sin once and for all.
When we sing to celebrate all Jesus has done and continues to do for us, we aren’t singing alone. In Revelation 5:12, angels gather around Jesus singing, “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise.”
Thousands of years ago, God kept his promise by sending His Son, Jesus, to die in our place. God was faithful then and hasn’t changed. No matter how chaotic life seems, God is still God and God is still good. How does knowing that God is good and in control change your perspective of your circumstances?
