Judgement of the Harlot - Part 2  

Thoughts on the Passage

Okay, I am tired of reading about this woman. Let’s just read the rest of her judgment and get it over with.

I do not get much joy in seeing things destroyed even if they deserve it. I rejoice that truth triumphs, that evil is destroyed and those that suffer under evil are taken care of by God. I want to focus on life.

Three thoughts.

First, the people of the world mourn over her destruction. Their focus is making money – not particularly serving the antichrist. Now the system that is built to do that gets destroyed, they have lost everything. Everything they have built their lives on is destroyed. They are left with ashes. It is a terrible loss and they do not know what to do.

Second, there is rejoicing in heaven. Again it is because this woman destroyed so much good, killed so many of God’s people, and now her time of judgment is at hand. It is done quickly (“in one hour…”). Wealth is destroyed, surplus and luxury are replaced with famine, and life and vibrancy are replaced with death.

Third, there is the millstone judgment. This is mentioned in the bible in Matthew 18:6 and was something well understood by the Greeks and the Romans as well. It was judgment on parents who abuse children and it was the judgment of children who killed their parents. It was judgment that removed life, destroyed all trace of existence, and exposed the hidden sin for all to see. 

Prayer

Father, when You bring judgment upon this woman (and the world system she represents) that judgment is fast, it is complete, and it exposes the hidden things that everyone hides. It does not take you a long time to accomplish this. We must remember that when we cry out for You to act against evil – You take time not because You must but because You choose to wait. Also, may we remember that everything that is hidden will be exposed. This produces rejoicing as justice is released for those doing it. It also gives me pause. ALL hidden things will be released, even ours. Father, I know this is why I trust in Your provision for forgiveness. Thank you that I can walk without fear into Your presence, because everything is exposed already – and forgiven. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
