Perspectives Of Hope (Overcoming COVID-19)预览
Have you ever heard of the book "The Pilgrim's Progress?” If not, you may want to look it up and give it a read. In general, it illustrates the struggles that believers encounter along life’s journey. One of the things most fascinating about the book is the story of the author John Bunyan, who actually wrote the book while imprisoned. The book was penned while his area of influence was being suppressed. However, it ended up reaching and encouraging countless "pilgrims" around the world and still does to this day!
Matthew 5:14 mentions a city on a hill, which cannot be hidden. Can you imagine how much light a city like that produces?
I live out in the country. At night, when I go out in my back yard, I can see the light from the nearest city and it is not even a city on a hill. So, I can only imagine how much light would be produced by a city if it were on a hill. Guess what? Jesus describes His followers as that kind of light!
Speaking to His disciples, Jesus said: “You are the light of the world.” That's the light of Christ that is within us. We don’t have to be a city on a hill, but we radiate the same! And when people see us, they should see the God who lives within us. We can radiate the light of Jesus everywhere we go, AND even when we can’t go anywhere at all! How cool is that?
