Andrew Knew the Value of Unseen Service and Faithfulness

In the course of our Christian journey, we may find ourselves questioning or doubting the impact of our service to God. Some do not even bother to serve because they consider themselves or their service to be of no importance or significance. We may sometimes feel that our service to God is unseen.

If we pay attention to Andrew’s life, we will see that compared to his brother Peter or other disciples, he is almost unrecognized or unnoticed. He never calls attention to himself, but rather, brings someone else to Jesus, the One who has the answers to all of our needs or problems. Andrew was the type of person who did not mind being hidden because he understood the value of unseen service. Andrew did not speak to the multitudes, but more than five thousand people got to experience God’s provision when he brought a little boy with five barley loaves and two small fish to Jesus. Thousands of people were fed just because he dared to serve faithfully.

He did not do things to be recognized nor to be in the spotlight. He did not go around looking for “followers.” Instead, he followed Jesus and allowed His light to shine upon others so that they could walk in the light. Let us wake up to the reality of God’s kingdom. Jesus is the light; He has called us to walk in the light, and we are called to be a light in this world.

There is value in your service to God, even if you do not see it or receive recognition for it on Earth. You do not have to do big things to be great; the devil will try to convince you that whatever you do is insignificant unless you read about it on the front page of the newspaper or on social media. In the kingdom of God, the number of followers that you have does not define your greatness because greatness is not defined by how famous you are. Do not look for the bright lights of this world, but set your eyes on Jesus—the true light of the world.

Your destiny is not in the bright lights or under the spotlight of what the world considers great. Your destiny is in Jesus’s hands. Listen carefully to His sweet voice, calling you to serve Him in the little things. Your service may be unseen by others, but do not let that stop you from serving faithfully. Like Andrew, live a lifestyle of faithful service, and one day, God will reward you in Heaven. Oh, what a glorious day!

[Who's Your One? Series] Valuable

Have you ever doubted or questioned the impact of your service to God? Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, is not known for walking on water; nevertheless, his actions, as little or insignificant as they may seem, had great value in the eyes of God. Andrew understood the importance of one single soul, of faithful service, and how small things can become great in the hands of an Almighty God.
