Most people know that it is easier to tear something or someone down than to build something or someone up. Some new college relationships are bent on tearing down your moral pillars, but most of the time it just happens by being around people who don’t care about it either way. The company you keep says a lot about who you are or who you want to become. We become like those we hang around the most. If we believe that this life is all there is then we would be fools not to join in the reverie that is the typical college experience. However, if Jesus was raised from the dead and those who follow Him will be too, then we have a very good reason not to follow their foolishness. Paul warned the Corinthian believers about this very thing long before you or I set foot on a college campus. Choose friends who will help challenge you to become more like Christ, not just those who are ok with you being a Christian as long as you aren’t too outspoken about it!

“I want to make sure that I stay close to you Jesus, so help me choose my friends closely. Help me look at their lives and see if that’s what I want to look like at the end of this year and beyond. Guide me to the right kind of friends who will help me maintain my moral compass and fix it on you and you alone!”
