Restoring Life: Unity in Diversity

The trinity is made up of three separate roles: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each one of these roles is unified as one Godhead (or God). All of their attributes are of equal importance; however, each one represents a different perspective.

Similarly, God implemented this design into creation. Our cultures, backgrounds, genders, race, and all other differences were each a part of God’s magnificent plan. In 1 Corinthians chapter 12, Paul states in verse 12-13 (ESV): “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body — Jews or Greeks, slaves or free — all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

This is a beautiful depiction of unity within the body of Christ. Being united is not about uniformity, but rather is about sharing the same mission, vision, and destination. As Christians, it’s incredible when the body of Christ looks diverse and all share the same vision: Christ died for us, so that we may live for Him.

This same depiction is represented in orthopedics. During surgery, it's not just the surgeon working, but nurses and technicians and reps. Prior to surgery, inventory specialists, manufacturers, and sterile processors work to prepare a surgery crafted specifically for the patient. It takes an entire team of different abilities, perspectives, and resources to accomplish the end goal: restoration for the patient.

God has given everyone a unique role and special purpose. Our differences and unique talents, once in unity, restore life to create the perfect harmonious intention Christ has for this world.

These differences include skin color.

An often polarizing subject, how someone looks does not determine their worth. Just as an eye appears different than an ear, verse 17 tells us “If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be?” If we demanded everyone look the same, we would lose the talents and gifts that each unique individual was created to fulfill. Instead, we should be celebrating, elevating, and utilizing the uniqueness that God has so intentionally created.

Each day of this plan was written by a different individual representing the diverse community that is the orthopedic industry. Their stories serve as an encouragement to why we should celebrate diversity and how differences bring strength.

Question to think about:

How can I implement the truth “our differences are important” within my work, mission, and life?

Prayer: God, I thank you for your beautiful and intentional design for my life and that you gave each and every person a unique purpose that is important to carry out your perfect plan. I pray that we, as your body, are always reminded of our mission: to restore life and glorify you. It’s in your name I pray, Amen.

Restoring Life: Unity in Diversity

Although we all look different, together we are called as one under Christ. When the parts are strong, the body is strong - the orthopedic industry included! This industry is comprised of many people working together to create restoration for their patients. Each person brings a unique and special talent that without, restoration would not be possible. Let’s celebrate the diversity that God has crafted!
