It's the Little Things预览
Day 2 - Our Smallness vs. God’s Greatness
“We see the blue ocean,
You see the grains of sand
We see what’s on the portrait,
You see what’s in the man
Your prints on everything
And we see it on our hands”
Another way to grow in thankfulness and regain perspective is to realize how small we are in light of how big God is. After walking with God for quite some time, He becomes like a friend.
But He never becomes less holy. Every day we should remind ourselves of this fact- that the Creator of the universe talks to us when He doesn’t have to.
In the Old Testament God’s holiness is a lot clearer. What the Israelites used to have to do just to come into the presence of God puts our twenty-minute morning devotions to shame. It is only because Jesus died on the cross so that we can have this type of close relationship with God. He did all of the hard work because we couldn’t keep our end of the covenant. Lord, forgive us for how often we forget all that You went through just so we can stand in Your presence.
I love the book of Job because you see this very thing. His life got worse than most of ours ever will, and yet how did God finally bring him out of his self-pity and grief? By reminding Job who He is. That He made the heavens and the earth. That His ways and wisdom are far beyond what we can ever comprehend.
Once I start to look at God, the cares of this world fade away. In light of all that He is, and all that He has done, who am I to complain? May I be like David who always brought his grievances and emotions to God instead of letting them fester and grow into bitterness.
Prayer: God, You are so great. You are so good. You are so holy. Thank You for loving me the way that You do and for Your faithfulness in the smallest to the largest things in life. Amen.
Action: Before you pray, remind yourself of who you are praying to.
"Why worry bout my problems with no height
You got me from the mountains to the little things”
