In the Hands of Christ My King: 5 Day Devotional预览
Our God Is Alive
By: Matt Blackwell
The gospel of Luke records the world-changing events that happened after the crucifixion of Jesus.
When we sing “Our God Is Alive,” we are remembering and celebrating the death-conquering, curse-breaking, life-giving power of God at work in raising Jesus from the dead.
Jesus gives us life.
Not only do we celebrate that Jesus is alive, but we celebrate that in Christ we, too, are truly alive. His resurrection is the means to our abundant and eternal life. This good news is laid against the dark backdrop of the bad news of our separation from God. The New Testament tells us the sobering news that we are dead apart from God. In Ephesians 2:1, the apostle Paul says that “you were dead in the trespasses and sins ...” But that is not the end of the story!
Ephesians 2:4-5 tells us: "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ ...” When you trust in the surety of His love and the sufficiency of His cross, He will resuscitate you and breathe life into your lifeless lungs, so that you can sing about what only He can give—abundant and eternal life.
That is why we passionately and whole-heartedly sing, “I’m alive in You, Jesus.”
Jesus deserves our praise.
Our only appropriate response to “the great love with which he loved us” and the life that He gives us is to worship Him: “So let praise rise high in this place / For our King stands over the grave”!
