What Dad Needs预览
Dads Are Not Perfect
The role of a father is not an easy one. In 1675, Lord Rochester stated, “Before I got married, I had six theories on parenting. But now I have six children and no theories”. God has created each of us so uniquely; with that, we carry unique roles. We know that the role of a father is a great one, but oftentimes we do not see the weight of what being the head of the household carries. Wives and children expect fathers to be providers, comforters, leaders, and so much more, but they forget that as much as they are all of those things, they are first and foremost humans. They are imperfect beings who will make mistakes. Dads will not be perfect. As much as we can see their faults, they can see them too. Instead of reminding them of all their shortcomings, it is important to encourage and show gratitude for all the wonderful things they do as fathers.
Sometimes we are unsure of how to affirm our fathers and feel as though we need some grand gesture that requires lots of money or time, but this is simply not true. In this five-day devotional, we will dive into the three things every dad needs from Proverbs and how families can satisfy these needs in practical ways every single day. Here we can discover ways to show appreciation and love for our fathers while also strengthening our relationships with them. If you are reading this and you lack a relationship with your earthly father, know that you have a Heavenly Father whose greatest desire is to have a relationship with you.
All the things we will discuss in the next few days are a reflection of His wants and directly apply to your relationship with Him as well. Let’s prepare our hearts to learn. I want you to grow as wives, children, and friends of fathers both here on earth and in Heaven.
Prayer: Lord, today we thank you for who You are as our Father in Heaven, and the way You have created our earthly fathers to reflect Your love. Open our eyes to see how we can encourage and love the dads you have given us. Strengthen our relationships with them, and teach us how to reflect and love You more deeply as we grow close to our fathers. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
