Moments for Mums: Purpose - Part 2预览

Part of me wants to take this verse on face value and celebrate that God’s plan and purpose will happen. Another part of me wrestles with the awful realities of issues in our world and in people’s lives. 

I went back and read the chapter around this verse (often a helpful exercise). These words were part of a promise given to the Israelites while they were in the midst of oppression. What God had planned and purposed, and what would happen is that the unjust nations who oppressed the people of God would be judged, cast down, and get what they deserved for their sins. These words were not given as a platitude but as an anchor for hope. 

The details of this promise may not apply to us. But that offer of an anchor of hope is there. I don’t always understand why things happen. I get angry and heartbroken. And yet, I still believe that God’s purpose will be fulfilled in the end.

Where do you need that anchor of hope today?

Prayer:

Lord, may we have hope that you will fulfill your plans and purpose. Help us to hold on to that anchor of hope. Amen
