Different Gifts for Different Seasons

The COVID-19 pandemic has taught us all to be versatile.

In early 2020, when we first went into lockdown, churches scrambled to work out how to keep Sunday services happening in a virtual space. I’ll never forget the first Sunday that my church went online, with a live stream from my assistant pastor’s office. I know of other churches that managed to share sermons down phone lines!

With months of practice, the whole system is now more refined. My church now has a few cameras, and the live stream includes people praying and reading the Bible from home. But I’ve been incredibly thankful for, not only the technology to make this happen, but also for those with the know-how to make it happen.

It’s a reminder of the importance of the body of Christ, with each person playing their part.

I have no clue how to create a live video online stream, but I can support those who can in prayer. I’ve pondered how helpful it is that the pandemic struck when it did, so we can still meet online, as opposed to say, a few decades back. And yet, even then, faithful believers would have found a way to connect and remind each other of the goodness of Jesus, and that we have a God who is in control.

Take a moment to give thanks for those who have made online church possible in such different seasons, and that we can all find ways to use our gifts well, alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Body of Christ

If you attended Sunday School growing up, the term ‘the body of Christ’ is not unfamiliar. However, it’s easy to forget that we are a part of a body of Christ and that we each have a unique role to play. Be reminded that you that you are a part of the body of Christ, and that God has created you specially to play your unique role within that body.
