Strangers Are Welcomed Into God’s Household

God has a special covenant with the people of Israel. Other people were invited into this relationship as well, but in Old Testament times, this happened only on a limited scale. In general, other people were “alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world,” (Ephesians 2:12).

But when Jesus came, a new era began. He broke down the dividing wall between Jews and Gentiles, making them into one people. Everyone is invited to become part of the household of God by faith in Jesus, Jews and non-Jews alike.

In God’s Kingdom, nobody is a stranger or a sojourner anymore. Jesus unites believers from all tongues and nations into one flock, and He cares for them as their Good Shepherd. This was already foretold by the prophet Isaiah: “Thus says the Lord… the foreigners who join themselves to the Lord… these I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer,” (Isaiah 56:6-7).

God is not interested in your nationality. In His kingdom, “There is neither Greek nor Jew, neither circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all,” (Colossians 3:11). Do not let your nationality or social position withhold you from accepting His invitation!
