Shake off rejection
We are all guilty of seeking a "like" on social media, a new follower, or a re-post. We all seek in some way to look good to others.
So if there is one thing that is constantly rubbing off on people in this generation, it is rejection. We live different lives to look good to others. If we fail, we feel rejected and limited; it's a poison that depresses us, that attacks our identity and the revelation of who we are in Christ.
But the reality is that it's not possible for everyone to like you, so don't worry. Instead, think about being liked by God, live for an audience of one.
When the world rejects us, God accepts us. When sin separated us from God, Jesus eliminated that distance. If we let rejection rub off on us, we will live frustrated, trying to please everyone without seeing any favorable results.
Let us not live embittered by the rejection of people we do not even know, who would not accept us as we are. And at the same time, let us not be the ones who reject others. It is important to understand that we are all works in progress and stop looking for an end product in others. Accompany people in their process, just as God accompanies us in ours.
The danger of letting rejection stick to your life is that you start to think that God sees you in the same way as others. But that's not true. God sees you as unique, created in his image and likeness. Jesus is an expert at accepting what humanity and religion reject.
Shake off the rejection that has clung to your life because you are worth much more than you think, and God has a purpose for you.
Prayer: Jesus, thank you that you do not see me as others see me! Thank you for believing in me and accompanying me in every stage of my process. Help me shake rejection from my life and find my validation in you alone; help me remember that I am who you say I am. May your word carry the most weight in my thoughts about myself and others. Amen.
