DAY 16: Supportive Relationships

Today let’s take a look at how relationships play a key role in pursuing your purpose.

To achieve your purpose, you must understand how relationships can foster sustained success. Some connections you have will help you pursue your passions; others are debilitating and rob you of your ability to move forward.

When you truly and completely live out your purpose with all your heart and soul, it becomes embedded in who you are. Other people’s opinions and comments cannot stop you from moving forward, but not everyone is at that point yet. You need to protect yourself from any person, attitude, or behavior that drains your energy or dissipates your passion until you live out your purpose.

Takeaway: Some relationships you have will help you pursue your passions; others are debilitating and will rob you of your ability to move forward.

Challenge yourself:

• What positive relationships have you developed that support your purpose?
• Have you surrounded yourself with safe relationships with people who will encourage you in your endeavors?
• If some of your relationships are not so supportive, what steps can you take to continue to dilute their negative effect?

The answer to these three questions will help you intentionally direct the impact your relationships have on the pursuit of your destiny. The goal is to remove negative influences while maximizing support, encouragement, and strength.

Another question to consider:

Since God’s plan incorporates our losses, in some ways, unsupportive relationships might also serve to guide you toward your purpose. What can you learn about yourself and your purpose from the relationships that haven’t supported your authentic self?
