Biblical Success - Running Our Race - Headwinds预览
As a Christ-follower running the race of life, it is almost impossible not to notice the headwinds in our nation these days. Our country and the global community are being whipsawed by forces of pandemic and political upset. Today we will talk about the basic nature of the forces involved in the headwinds and their effects on us and our cultural environment. The headwinds of life had a beginning.
In the Garden of Eden, Satan offered Eve a choice to God’s order and direction. She and then Adam took the option of disobedience, and sin and conflict entered the world and have been present on the earth ever since. Man has tried to find peace with sin on his own terms. All of the “isms” that man has proposed over the eons through philosophies, economics, social reforms, or political brute force, etc. have been offered as an answer to a better life of peace apart from God, but have failed, resulting in bringing misery and chaos across the globe in different, times, places, and wars.
In Hebrews, chapter 12, God says He will ”shake everything that can be shaken to show what cannot be shaken.” (paraphrase)The only things in the universe that can NEVER be shaken are our Father, Jesus, and The Word. God is still in control. He is either causing or allowing the shaking and conflict. In either case, Romans 8:28 remains true. It doesn’t matter if we understand things that happen as good or not. Our God is good. This shaking is being used by God and worked together for good in the lives of those who love and are the called of God. In other words, the lives of Christ-followers.
Cultural shaking can make things easier or more difficult for us as Christ-followers, but our responsibilities as disciples remain the same. Can you get your arms around this stuff? What do you think? Let’s look at some Scripture together.
