Year of the Bible: Part Two of Twelve 预览
Jacob Continues to Bless His Children.
We don't know much about what happened to Joseph after this part of his story, but we see that God intended to bless and prosper him. In contrast, Jacob called Joseph's brother, Benjamin, a "hungry wolf" devouring prey. As it turns out, Benjamin's tribe [family] would continually be at odds with the rest of his brothers and their families, battling and even waging war against them.
The way Jacob blessed his children looks a lot like what God has done for you through Jesus; He has blessed you. This message is the Gospel. God desires to bless you so you can be a blessing. God started with Abraham and continues blessing now in this present day with you. God's gifts are always aimed at enriching you so you can be a refreshment to those around you for His glory and honor. For this purpose, Jesus came and gave you the gift of the Holy Spirit. To be free and empowered to be a blessing.
Everything you need for life and godliness is yours in Jesus, and this gift is a blessing from your heavenly Father. The blessing of God is received in faith when you believe that He is who He says He is and desires to do what He has expressed a desire to accomplish. Active faith is to trust God and allow your action to spring forth from that trust.
Question: Do you believe that God desires to bless you? Do you realize He does nothing from obligation? Instead, He acts because He wants to and always aims at your benefit.
Prayer Focus: If you struggle to believe that God is this good, pray and ask Him to prove His character to you. Don't worry; He is not insecure when we ask for His help in our unbelief.
