What Is Sin?预览
“Cursed is the ground because of you” (Genesis 3:17)
Sin affects man’s relationship with nature.
When God created man, He put him in the garden of Eden. This was a wonderful place to live, with abundant fruits for food. There were many animals as well, but none of them posed a threat for man or for other animals.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they were sent out from the garden to work the ground, but the earth was not a safe and lovely place anymore. The ground was cursed, it brought forth thorns and thistles, and animals turned into cruel predators. Man turned out to be a bad steward of creation. The consequences of our behavior are visible worldwide: overexploitation of the soil, pollution of the environment, animal abuse…
In His grace, the Lord God has left us with a whole lot of good and beautiful things. Creation still reminds us of His power, majesty and wisdom. The earth still provides food. We can still enjoy the diversity of so many flowers and animals around us. But it is not at all like the garden of Eden anymore. It is not perfect.
Where do you see sin’s effects on nature most?
