All things through Christ - Nick Vujicic

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

If there is anyone who knows anything about overcoming adversity and spiritual warfare, it's Nick Vujicic. Vujicic, who's been an evangelist since 19, was born without limbs (no arms or legs) but has overcome his physical adversity—by the grace of God—to preach the gospel around the globe.

Born without any limbs for no known medical reason, he grew up frustrated and suicidal until a school janitor told him he should be a speaker. Inspired by that conversation to work hard and overcome the ignorance and discrimination he faced, Vujicic realized he was special. Emboldened by a personal mission to use his “disability” to start conversations that change lives, he went on to build what he calls a “ridiculously good” life traveling the world, bringing inspiration and hope to millions.

Vujicic has preached Jesus in 74 countries to 9.5 million people face to face. During that time, 1.1 million have given their lives to Christ. Through two decades of his ministry, 733 million souls have heard the Good News of Jesus. Nick could say, along with Paul in Ephesians 3:8,

Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ,

Nick’s challenges have never stopped his love for Jesus and his passion to see others' lives transformed and healed by the power of the Holy Spirit. Wherever he goes, and whoever his audience is, as a New York Times best-selling author, international speaker, entrepreneur, or Christian evangelist, he communicates one core message: that no matter your circumstance, you can overcome.

Vujicic shares that he also didn’t let his physical limitations deter him from his life dream of marriage and family. He married the love of his life, and they now have four children. Vujicic's deep compassion for others has led him to found Unbound Warrior, an organization that helps veterans overcome obstacles and heal from the traumas they have faced while serving in the military; one of their main focuses is to eliminate suicide – a real problem among veterans.

Reflection: Joni Eareckson Tada’s and Nick Vujicic’s examples are marvelous and encouraging. Through Christ, we really can do anything. Jesus never calls us into something for which He doesn’t equip us, but the equipping is often not what we expect. We expect healing and deliverance so that we can accomplish God’s work, but God can and does use us in any situation regardless of our weakness or position, or disability. Enjoy the next two devotionals as examples of how we can help others who are struggling.
