Behold: 7-Day Prayer Journey预览
WHERE'S THE LAMB?
Today’s final “Behold” passage will look at a well-known passage in Genesis.
In my Jewish study bible, the word 'behold' is explained to mean not only 'see' or 'perceive,' but 'be sure to see.' We are asked to look with eyes of faith, and not just look for the naturally unseen.
When we look at the story of Abraham and Isaac, the Lord had asked Abraham to climb a mountain and bring his only son, the son he loved, the son he was promised. And bring him as a sacrifice to the Lord. Abraham answers God with the word; 'Henini.’ That is to say; 'Yes, Lord before you ask me a thing, my answer is yes!'
Abraham had responded in faith. But the line that gets me every time is from his precious son Isaac; "Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?" I sense this is the question the world is asking, even if it doesn't realise it. The world is groaning and needing a Saviour, needing Jesus, needing to know that the love of God has already made a way for all of humanity to be saved.
Let's Pray:
"Dear Lord, we pray You would break our hearts again for the things that break Your heart. We desire to live our lives for the glory of Your name and we pray that everything we say and do would lead people to your kindness and grace, in Jesus' all-powerful name. Amen."
1. Is there a time you can recall when God clearly asked you to follow Him in ways that required you to dive deep in faith, saying 'yes' even when it made no sense in the natural?
2. How can you answer the question ‘where is the Lamb’ to your unsaved friends and family?
Thank you for joining us for this 7-day prayer journey. We hope and pray that you will continue to go deeper in your relationship with God as you Behold him.
