THOUGHT OF THE DAY

As Christ followers, we must often balance on the line between placing our hope in God and looking to our nation’s leaders to advocate for change in the areas we need it most. We must wrestle with the reality that we are citizens of both Heaven and Earth. Christ is our Lord, our Saviour, the one we place our hope in. Yet, we are still subject to those who have been voted into authority. So, how do we balance this tension? Do I pray for God to save our country? Do I pray for God to move in the life of our leaders?

God’s Word is clear. We are called to pray fervently for our nation and for our leaders. Though there may be times we find ourselves under authorities we disagree with, we are to place our hope in Jesus as our King. While you pray today, remember that God is the ultimate authority. He sees you, and He hears your prayers. Continue to bring your thoughts and concerns to Him, but let us not forget that we are called to pray for those in leadership.

GUIDED PRAYER

Lord, thank You for the gift of living in a nation in which I am free to worship You publicly. Father, I pray for all my brothers and sisters in the faith around the globe who are persecuted because of their faith in You. Bless them, protect them, guide them, and strengthen them as they continue to follow You.

Lord, I pray for our nation and our leaders. I pray over their day. Bless them and their families today. Allow Your Spirit to guide them and lead them. Bring faithful men and women into their lives to support them and lead them closer to You. I pray for supernatural protection over their minds from the attacks of the enemy. Father, I place my trust and hope in You. When my heart grows weary, help me to trust You in my disbelief. Help my nation’s leaders and I to find our peace in You alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
