DAY 6

ACCEPTANCE

Thank you for being with me this week. It has been a long week working through tough emotions as we discuss our topic on grief.

Scripture has helped us understand we are not alone in our grief. There is a process in grief that we have come to know as five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

Denial, anger, bargaining, and depression are very tough and raw emotions to work through as we walk the path of grief. Even if we don’t have all the words to express to God, we need to meet with Him and allow ourselves time to lament. Lamenting is an intimate communication with God. It is so intimate that we don’t even need to understand all our thoughts or feelings. When we meet with God and stand in His presence to pray, the Holy Spirit will intercede for us and pray for us according to God’s Will.

As we move forward today, I want you to understand the acceptance part of the grieving process does not mean you will not grieve. We will always have feelings and emotions over a loss in our life. The acceptance stage means we will just grieve in a way that is not debilitating us from moving forward in our loss.

Let us keep reading from yesterday’s Scripture:

28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

The key to understanding acceptance is knowing God works for the good and has purpose.

I completely understand the negative feelings this can bring. We have gotten so far this week, so let me explain this part better.

God’s purpose in your loss does not mean He desires for you to feel pain and have loss in your life.

We live on earth walking this humanly progressive course. It is inevitable for us to have loss in our life. We may never know or understand God’s purpose in our situations. However, as the Holy Spirit prays for us, we can find peace and acceptance. Knowing God works for good and a purpose gives us a larger picture. Although our grief feels larger than life itself, God’s goodness and purpose are unfathomable.

It is the incomprehensible abilities of God that provide us hope.

Join me tomorrow as we find hope in looking ahead to the end of our laments.

I’ll see you tomorrow.
