Two Kingdoms - Part 2预览
The Curtain Torn in Two
The crucifixion and death of Jesus may be a story that you've heard many times before. Today though, we're going to focus on a verse that marks a "before and after" for us kingdom people. If you've read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, you will know that a mysterious wardrobe granted access to Narnia. If we look into the Old Testament, we see a similar image for the people of Israel!
In the temple, there was a curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place (or Holy of Holies). Priests were allowed to minister in the Holy Place regularly, but only once a year could the high priest pass through the inner curtain into the immediate presence of God. (e.g., Exodus 26:33–35; Leviticus 16:2).
Go deep: Matthew 27, verse 51 says, "At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom." This signifies that for the children of God, the people of His kingdom, there is no longer a barrier between us and God. Isn't that incredible?! Meditate on the following truths today: You have been granted direct access to the Father! The living God no longer resides in a building, but in us, His children!
Be bold: Jesus made a way for all who believe in Him to be called sons and daughters of God. The curtain was torn and we can now experience His personal presence in our lives! Who could you share this truth with today?
Memorise it: "At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom." - Matthew 27:51
