Your First Chapter: Remember What Matters Most预览
Is Your Faith Unshakable?
We probably all know the story of Abraham and Isaac, yet I am always amazed when I read it.
How could Abraham, thinking that he was about to sacrifice his son, climb a mountain and also carry on his back the utensils that would kill his son? This is beyond my comprehension! Is it also beyond my faith?
In the New Testament we read, "By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, ‘It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.’ Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.” (Hebrews 11:17-19 NIV)
Abraham believed so steadfastly. Wow! Do you believe steadfastly? Is your faith unshakable in spite of anything?
Compared to Abraham, I still have a lot of room for improvement. How often and how quickly we question, “Why is God allowing this?" or "Can this really be from God?"
The letter of James says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father..." (James 1:17 NIV) If we're honest, though, we often let ourselves be fooled, because we don't believe so steadfastly after all, and we give room to our doubts.
I want to believe even more unwaveringly! Even if I feel like I'm climbing a mountain right now, like Abraham, where I know I could lose everything. Because if everything God gives us is good and perfect, then even this hard journey must have a good ending!
Don't let your doubts take away what God wants to give you through your trust!
I am shaken up by this story today. I want my faith to be stronger. I want to believe unwaveringly. Don't you? Then let's pray for it:
"Lord, please give us this faith that cannot be shaken by anything! Let us also experience what blessings are to be found behind this boundless trust in You! Amen."
You are a miracle!
