The Thread: Part II预览
Settled in a Different Place
Abram is a significant part of God's story because he was a forefather of Jesus. His life was an example of faith (Hebrews 11). Through Abram's family, God would bless and redeem the whole world. Today, we see where Abram's story begins.
Abram's father, Terah, set out with his family for Canaan but settled elsewhere. Canaan was the place God wanted Abram and his family to inherit. It would have been interesting to see the outcome of Terah's decision had he not settled before he got to Canaan. How would that have impacted his family?
God wants to walk with us into what he has promised and called us to do, but many of us settle for comfort and miss the opportunity to believe in God and see his purposes fulfilled both in our lives and in the lives of others. Let us not walk in fear but attain what we can only see through faith!
Consider the Apostle Paul's encouragement from Philippians 3:13-16:
"Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you."
Question: When God has called you to something, have you ever settled for something different? Why did you?
Prayer: Ask God to stir up your faith. Ask him how he would like you to move forward to take hold of that for which Christ got ahold of you!
