Proverbs - Wisdom for Life

15天中的第13天

Many years before Solomon became king, his father, King David, wanted to build a house for God. But God said, “No, you will not build a house for me, however your son will build it.” That son was Solomon.

Solomon was wise, and his nation prospered under his wise words, becoming rich and famous. With that fortune Solomon built a grand house for God called a temple. Using his fame, he forged friendships that could help him complete the task.

The temple took seven years to build. It was beautiful and grand, covered in silver and gold, designed to bring honour and praise to God, and once complete, that is just what Solomon and the people of Israel did. He brought the Ark, which had represented God’s presence since the time of Moses, into the temple, and God’s presence filled the place. Solomon and all the people worshiped God with words of praise. The temple became the place for the whole nation to come and worship God.

Solomon, the wisest king of all, not only built the temple but also wrote words of wisdom found in the book of Proverbs. The temple he built was destroyed and rebuilt several times across the centuries, but the words he wrote have lasted until today. Solomon knew the power of words. He had seen the words spoken by God to his father, King David, come to pass in his own lifetime, and he knew the words we speak in our lives have power, too. Be wise with your words; your words have power.
