Lord's Prayer: Deliver Us From Evil预览
Christ has come to destroy the devil’s work! Jesus overthrows evil and rescues us from it!
Jesus tells a parable at one point in his ministry about what he’s up to. Some religious leaders are accusing him of being in league with the devil. The irony is thick. Jesus, the one who is casting out demons, is being accused of colluding with evil by evil people who are claiming to teach the way of God.
Jesus sets the record straight. He then describes the Evil One in a strange sort of way. Look at what Jesus says: “No one can enter a strong man’s house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man’s house” (Mark 3:27).
Who’s the strong man? The Evil One. Jesus has come to raid his house. The devil may be strong. Jesus is stronger.
His life, ministry, death, and resurrection show it. No longer are people held captive to the Evil One’s whim and will. No longer are we slaves in his house. This world is no longer his. Too many people see themselves as victims of the power of the Evil One, cowering behind church doors for fear of him. That’s backwards. Jesus is on the attack! The Evil One has to play defense against him!
Christ has come to set us free. So pray with defiance and victory, “Deliver us from the Evil One!”
Consider this today…
Listen to a song on Jesus’s victory over the devil, like Anne Wilson's "Devil."
How does it help you see what Jesus did for you?
读经计划介绍
Christians are different. They can’t help it. When you’re in Christ and filled with the Spirit, it changes you. This leads to strange expectations. It’s a different kind of hope flowing from Christ’s perspective on things. This is the eighth and final in a series of 5-day plans that uses the Lord’s Prayer to show how Jesus invites us to approach life and the future.
